In July, 2021 I self-published a short guide to personal cybersecurity called Cybersecurity Basics: A Short Guide to Staying Safe Online. I’m not a programmer or a network engineer. I’m an aging, self-taught computer geek who developed an interest in cybersecurity while functioning as formal and informal tech support for family, friends and colleagues for the last 30 years.
For the last 16 years I’ve worked as an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher, training teachers how to use technology and integrate it into their instruction. As the go-to “computer guy” for hundreds of people over the last three decades it has become very clear that most of us don’t do enough to protect ourselves and our information online.
In Cybersecurity Basics I did my best to give non-techy readers an overview of the skills everyone needs to keep themselves as safe as possible. Technology and cyber threats change so quickly I’ve directed readers of Cybersecurity Basics to this site where I’ve compiled resources designed to keep everyone as up-to-date as possible.
I will also use this blog to post my thoughts about cybersecurity as well as links to articles, videos and other resources I hope will be useful.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will visit often.
